Every model here is USB-C rechargeable, drop-rated, and switchable one-handed in gloves. Where they differ is reach, runtime and weight.

The everyday van torch, and the one that won Best of the Best. Auto Focus reads the distance and adjusts the beam itself, so it goes from a wheel arch to the far end of the yard without a touch. Ten hours at 500 lumens covers a full night shift.
15 mm across and 60 grams, so it lives in a shirt pocket and reaches into junction boxes, under sinks and behind panels. If the charge runs out mid-job, pull the cell out and drop in two AAA alkalines — no adaptor needed.
The lightest thing we make, and the one most trades end up wearing. The same Auto Focus as the ZB6T: it widens and dims as you move in close, so you are never reaching up to adjust it with dirty hands. Also takes AAAs.
The ZB5H with twice the output: the same Auto Focus that widens and dims as you move in close, and a 5,000 mAh cell that runs ten hours at 500 lumens. The USB-C cable is built in, so there is nothing to lose in the van.
The long-shift head torch. Twelve hours at 400 lumens on a single 21700 cell, which is what a winter night shift actually needs. Heavier than the ZB5H because the battery is bigger.
For the long shift: two cells, twenty hours at 500 lumens and 2,500 lumens when you need it. The heaviest head torch here at 371 grams, which is the price of the runtime.
The lightest way into the range: 600 lumens, 124 grams and a removable battery you can charge in the lamp or on the bench. Enough for loft, plant room and under-sink work.
28 grams on the van keys, throwing 200 metres on boost. Full power runs 30 minutes, so treat it as the backup for the job you did not plan for rather than a working light.

Six places the difference shows up on a job, and what we have done about each.
Most torches quote a headline lumen figure they can sustain for about two minutes before heat forces them to step down. The LED board here is copper rather than aluminium, shifting heat away up to 70% faster, so the beam stays strong right through the job. On the ZB8T, ZB6T and ZB7H.
Brake fluid, corrosion, wire sleeving: if the light distorts colour you make the wrong call. These run at 5,700K with high-CRI emitters for accurate colour, and every head torch here is flicker-free for hours of close work.
Sensor-driven Auto Focus on the ZB6T, ZB5H and ZB9H reads the distance and focuses and dims on its own — throwing 300 metres down a track, then flooding a wheel arch without you touching it. Patent filed. Auto-dimming is also why the runtime figures hold up: it stops the torch burning full output on close work.
Every battery is replaceable, which is not true of most sealed rechargeables at this price. On the ZB4P you pull the rechargeable cell out and drop two AAA alkalines straight in — no adaptor, no tools. The ZB5H does the same on three AAAs using its included adapter. A spare set in the van gets you through the shift.
Designed in Germany and built around named emitters — Nichia, Luminus and Cree, listed by part number on every spec sheet, not an unbranded LED behind a big number. That is why the lumen and beam figures here hold up when you measure them, and why we publish runtime next to output rather than on its own.
A rotating collar on the torches, a sliding switch under the head torches. You choose the mode before you switch on, instead of clicking through four settings while holding something in the other hand.
The ZB6T took Best of the Best, the competition's highest award, given only for groundbreaking design. The ZB7H head torch was also honoured. Judged by an international design jury against the field, not self-declared.
A lumen figure on its own tells you almost nothing. It is measured at the LED, for an instant, at full output — before the lens loses some of it and before heat forces the torch to step down. Plenty of torches are sold on a number they can hold for about two minutes.
Three figures together tell you what a torch will actually do: output, how far the beam reaches, and how long it holds at a level you would work at. That is why all three sit next to each other in the table above.

Most mechanics want two things: a head torch so both hands stay free, and a penlight for close inspection. The ZB5H covers the first at 1,000 lumens and 124 grams, with auto-focus that widens the beam as you move in close; the ZB9H gives you the same auto-focus at 2,000 lumens if you also want reach across the yard. The ZB4P covers the second — 400 lumens from something 15 mm across that fits where a hand will not. A 4,000-lumen handheld is more light than you need at that distance and will glare back off a bonnet.
On the ZB6T, ZB5H and ZB9H a sensor reads how far away the surface in front of you is, then focuses and dims the beam to suit it — narrow and bright down a track, wide and softer over an engine bay — without you adjusting anything. Zweibrüder has filed a patent on the technology, and the ZB6T won Best of the Best at the Red Dot Awards 2026 for it. The practical benefit beyond convenience is runtime: because it dims automatically on close work, the torch is not burning full output when it does not need to.
At a realistic working level, between three and twenty hours depending on the model. The ZB11H runs 20 hours at 500 lumens on its twin batteries, the ZB7H 12 hours at 400 lumens, the ZB6T and ZB9H 10 hours at 500 lumens, the ZB5H and ZB3H 7 hours at 300 lumens and the ZB4P 3 hours at 250 lumens. Boost settings run down far faster, which is why we quote the mid figure. Full charge takes 90 minutes on the ZB1T, two hours on the ZB4P and three to four hours on the larger cells.
Every model except the ZB8T and ZB11H is IP67, meaning dust-tight and able to survive a short immersion in shallow water — rain, hose-down and a dropped-in-a-puddle situation are all fine. The ZB8T and ZB11H are IP66, so they handle heavy jets of water but is not rated for immersion. All models are IK07 for impact and rated to a 2 metre drop, apart from the ZB5H at 1.5 metres.
Yes. The ZB4P is dual power: take the rechargeable cell out, drop two AAA alkalines in, carry on — no adaptor and no tools. The ZB5H does the same on three AAAs using the adapter in the box. Every model has a replaceable battery, which is not true of a lot of sealed rechargeable torches at this price.
Yes. All models run at 5,700K, close to daylight, and the ZB6T, ZB8T, ZB5H and ZB7H use high-CRI emitters so sleeving, corrosion and fluid colours read true rather than washed out. Every head torch here is also flicker-free, which matters if you are working under the beam for hours or filming an inspection.
Seven years, and a genuine one rather than a headline number with conditions attached. If you buy a torch to work with, the warranty is the part that tells you what the manufacturer actually thinks of it.
